Our History
Warner's Bakery was established in 1949 by Mr. Ellsworth Warner after years of working in cooperation with Mr. Harry Coburn of Coburn's Bake Shoppe in the 1930s. Throughout its early years, the bakery gained popularity for its iconic "Smiley Cookie". Jim Broadhurst, a local cookie connoisseur, purchased the recipe and in 1986 introduced it as the face of the now famous "Eat 'n Park Restaurant" corporation.
Mr. Warner also created a special bread recipe known as "GLUTEN" bread because of its high gluten-content flour. He developed the recipe in the 1940s as rationing was common and he couldn't always get butter, sugar, or dairy supplies. The bread has been made since that time with only 4 ingredients. IT IS LOW CARB (2 carbs per slice, 7 gr. protein, and no fat, no sugar, no dairy, no preservatives). It has become a favorite for KETO dieters and DIABETICS and is fabulously good... great toasted!
Today, the original bakery equipment is still used to produce Mr. Warner's timeless recipes. From the original Smiley cookie recipe, and fresh-made cakes to tasty fresh-made long-john donuts, there's certainly something here for everyone. Whether you come to bring back childhood memories or you're looking to fall in love with today's new sweet treats, Warner's Bakery is here to please every taste bud.
Mission
The hometown bakery's mission is to provide the highest quality fresh sweet and savory treats using clean, pure ingredients at affordable prices for the local community. Excellent customer service and community support are always a driving force for our baking adventure.
Meet The Owner
Hello, I’m Hilary Hanna, and I’m thrilled to share my unique journey with you, one that has taken me from the world of architecture to fulfilling my dreams as a bakery owner.
My story begins in South Korea, where I was born, and then moved to Michigan, where I was adopted into a loving family at two years old. These experiences have shaped me into the person I am today. In 2000, I set off to college at the Rochester Institute of Technology, choosing to major in architecture. That decision changed everything for me.
Not only did I have the opportunity to hone my skills and deepen my understanding of design and the building environment, but it’s also where I met my incredible husband. His unwavering support has been a steady presence through my career journey. After earning my degree from RIT, I joined an architecture firm in Erie, Pennsylvania, and for the next eight years, I worked in the world of design and creativity. During this time, I married my husband in 2010 and joyfully welcomed two wonderful children into our lives.
My career in architecture was rewarding, allowing me to contribute to meaningful projects and express my creativity. However, life had other plans for me. After being laid off, I found myself at a crossroads, leading to a new passion.
With the encouragement of my family and friends, I decided to explore the world of baking. I joined Warners Bakery, where I worked for five years under the guidance of Kathy, a mentor who guided me through the ins and outs of the bakery business. This experience ignited my desire to create and serve delicious baked goods. I discovered great joy in my work and in connecting with my community through the art of baking. The warmth and camaraderie of the bakery environment made me realize that this is where I truly belong.
In April 2024, I took a significant leap and became the owner of Warner’s Bakery. This transition marks an exciting new chapter in my career, allowing me to blend and use many of my creative skills. I’m excited by the opportunity to own the bakery and ensure we continue to provide high-quality products while innovating and expanding our offerings to serve our community better. Every day at work gives me a chance to inspire others, share my love for baking, and create delightful memories for our customers.. Balancing my roles as a mother, wife, and community member is incredibly important to me. I strive to create a balance between my professional and family life.
I believe that my varied experiences whether in architecture or baking, have equipped me with valuable skills and also enhance my ability to connect with others. My commitment to fostering a thriving environment is at the core of my philosophy, both at the bakery and at home.
I look forward to the future with enthusiasm. I am ready to embrace new challenges, nurture my family, and serve my community the delicious creations of Warner‘s Bakery. The journey has been incredible and I am excited about what lies ahead – the opportunity to make a lasting impact through my work and passion for baking.
Thank you for being a part of my story and I can’t wait to share the sweetness of our bakery with you.
